Charlotte Salt is an artist based in North Yorkshire, UK, with a background in contemporary fine art and teaching. She has had a lifelong connection with clay, as her parents established their own studio pottery before she was born. From a young age, she was immersed in the world of ceramics, often playing with clay alongside her siblings while their parents worked. She fondly recalls making small dioramas featuring figures on sofas, which her mother would glaze and fire for her. This early exposure to clay has naturally drawn her back to the medium throughout her artistic journey.
Charlotte’s clay work is intuitively hand-crafted using techniques such as coiling, slab-building, modeling, and pinching. Each piece she creates is unique, with distinctive brushstrokes and intentional imprints left on the surface, serving as a testament to the making process.
These charming, characterful dogs are hand-sculpted in stoneware and individually decorated by Charlotte. Perfect as ornamental pieces, they are pictured as a delightful pair, but sold individually.
