Tegen takes inspiration from the notion of ‘women’s work’. Looking at the frugalness, freedom and restrictions of patchwork quilts, she replaces stitches with brush strokes and pencil marks.
Harvesting stones, charcoal and shells from beaches local to her in Cornwall to make her own paint. Tegen has created a palette unique to her surroundings, that carries a special light reflecting quality and graininess – adding texture to simple design.
