This antique 19th-century earthenware bowl originates from the Swat Valley region, a historic artistic hub bridging Pakistan and Afghanistan. Exhibiting the area’s characteristic “Three-Color Ware” style, it is hand-painted with organic cobalt blue floral motifs and copper-green foliage outlined in iron-brown brushwork. The spontaneous decoration is set against a pale slip base and sealed with a rustic lead glaze, which reveals the coarse, wood-fired terracotta clay underneath. It remains a visually complete and historically significant document of Central Asian folk pottery traditions.
