Antique Open-Weave Metal Basket
Commonly referred to in France as fil de fer (iron wire) work, these open-weave baskets gained prominence throughout the late 19th and mid-20th centuries. They served as durable, breathable equipment across rural and coastal France. Larger variations featuring solid, reinforced iron bases were specifically deployed as industrial laundry sorters or factory part bins, while others collected root vegetables, grapes, or even oysters.
