Large Antique Hand-Painted Romanian Horezu Pottery Platter
This platter is a collector’s piece of authentic Romanian folk art. Measuring an impressive 32cm in diameter, this extra-large presentation platter originates from the Horezu region—a lineage of master pottery celebrated on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
It was entirely hand-thrown on a traditional kick-wheel and decorated using ancestral tools: a hollowed-out cow horn tipped with a fine goose quill feather. The face exhibits a mesmerizing concentric spiral pattern, vibrant mineral greens, and an intricate scrolling border. It features a heavy, organic feel that only genuine historic earthenware possesses, and comes equipped with a traditional hanging mechanism on the back to display beautifully on the wall.
