Reflecting her environments growing up in Cornwall and the industrial-clad route along the Thames path to her studio in Woolwich, Jessica’s work is aesthetically heavy, tough and showcases the marks of the maker. Each mark or indent in the clay ensures the feel of something that could never have been mass-produced. Contradicting the common perceptions of the materials she uses, Jessica moulds the clay into something whimsical, with an aspiration to create contemporary Celtic art that juxtaposes with our industrial and commercial reality.
